Law enforcement described the teenager who opened fire on his high school classmates as a “bullied outcast”.
The teen at a suburban Cleveland high school opened fire in the cafeteria, killing one student and wounding four others before being caught a short distance away.
One student who was shot in the shocking attack ID-ed the shooter as T.J. Lane, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.
The student Nate Mueller said he was sitting in the Chardon H.S.cafeteria with three pals when Lane arrived.
Mueller heard the sound of a gun being fired and suddenly felt his ear sting. Terrified, he fled the school and from behind the safety of a parked car dialed 911.
"My friends were crawling on the floor, and one of my friends was bent over the table, and he was shot," Mueller said.
"It was almost like a firecracker went off. I turned around and saw (T.J.) standing with a gun and I saw him take a shot," he told the Cle Plain Dealer.
Mueller also claimed that one of his friends at the table recently started dating the alleged gunmen’s ex-girlfriend.
The FBI has not yet officially released the name of the shooting suspect who was apprehended.
