DATELINE: ROME – Forensics experts request more time to review crucial DNA evidence in the appeals trial of AMANDA KNOX.
Two court appointed experts are taking apart the douible helix signatures with a sophisticated high-tech fine tooth comb in their analysis of the knife believed to have been used in the murder of Meredith Kercher, a 21-year-old Brit who shared an apartment with Knox .
They are renaming minute traces of DNA on the clasp of a bra Kercher wore at time of death.
Knox, an American student, nicknamed “Foxy Knoxy” by the press was convicted by Italian justice system of sexually assaulting and killing Kercher and sentenced to 26 years in jail.
Knox’s boyfriend during the time of the murder, Raffaele Sollecito of Italy, was also convicted on t he same murder rap and sentenced to 25 years.
Both have claimed innocence but their appeals trial is stalemated in Perugia Italy until the forensics experts complete a thorough analysis of the items in question.
