Kurt Russell is so opposed to marriage, he tried to convince his kids to avoid it -- unsuccessfully.
The rugged actor -- who's been with Goldie Hawn in a ringless relationship for 20 years -- admits: "We've never been tempted to get married, but in essence I'm married.
"I don't believe in marriage. I don't need marriage. I guess we've just removed ourselves from society in that regard.
"You have to believe more in divorce these days," the outspoken 52-year-old star told an interviewer. "If logic tells me anything, people don't get married anymore. They get divorced. I got married and divorced, and so did Goldie.
"I guess I just live my life differently."
Kurt and Goldie were hoping to spread the anti-marriage gospel to their loved ones.
"Of course, we've tried to pass the knowledge that you shouldn't get married on to our children, but failed." Kurt laughed -- well aware that Goldie's daughter Kate Hudson is married to ex-Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson.
"Honestly, we tell the kids, 'If marriage is important to you, that's all that matters. Just make sure it means something.'"
As for the state of his own relationship with the perky comedy star, Russell confided, "Goldie and I are just hanging out. It's a really good time in our lives."
