New evidence supporting a cover-up of Princess Diana being pregnant at the time of her death has emerged in France.
A senior legal source in Paris has confirmed that the British Embassy ordered that the Princess's body be embalmed within hours of her death.
The claim supports the theory the British government or even the royal family was trying to cover up that she was expecting a baby by her boyfriend Dodi Fayed.
Even Diana hinted at being pregnant just weeks before she died when the photo above was taken. She told reporters: "You are going to get a big surprise with the next thing I do. You'll see. But you will have to be patient." The embalming contravenes French law and ensured that any subsequent pregnancy test would be flawed.
"All instructions were received from the British authorities," said the legal source, who was in Paris on the night of Diana's death in August 1997.
French law bans embalming if a post-mortem is to be carried out because formaldehyde fluid used in the process corrupts some toxicological tests, including ones for pregnancy.
