NY cops attempts to crack ice cold case of notorious Dating Game serial killer.
Secret photographs of women who may have been slain by serial killer Rodney Alcala were released by the NYPD yesterday.
Alcala's suave appeal had landed him on The Dating Game in 1978-the same year NYPD cops believe he dumped Ellen Hover's body in Tarrytown, N.Y.
The 66-year-old, currently on Death Row in California would rape, strangle, resuscitate and re-strangle victims to prolong their suffering, according to court documents.
Investigators believe Alcala killed TWA stewardess Cornelia Michel Crilley, 23, who was found strangled and raped inside her E. 83rd St. apartment in 1971.
Alcala, a photographer with a genius-level IQ, was found to be hoarding 1,000 of pictures-many of them of a suggestive nature-in a secret storage locker when collared.
The serial killer blended in with the hippies permeating bohemian Greenwich Village in the 1970s, studying film under Roman Polanski and went by the alias John Berger.
Relatives of two Manhattan women who may have fallen victim to the notorious killer are mad that cops didn't release the pics sooner.
"They should be in every newspaper, on TV and on the Internet," the cousin of victim Ellen Hover said.
They are NOW.
