92 YEAR OLD VERA LYNN TOPS BEATLES

description

Songbird Dame Vera Lynn is oldest person to have Number One Hit AND has now toppled The Beatles from the top of the pops!

"I think it’s because of the problems and the fighting that’s going on," The WW2 singing star told media.

"Our Boys are away again and the music is significant again. And it’s a bit of nostalgia too."

Vera Lynn’s LP We’ll Meet Again is the Number One in the UK charts and it toppled the new remastered Fab Four collection from Number One!

"I was staggered,"Dame Vera said. "I was a big fan of The Beatles, and I really can’t believe it. Our music couldn’t be more different."

The 92 year old celebrated her success – and also having topped the book best seller list with new memoirs, Some Sunny Day – with a couple of glasses of champagne.

Dame Vera added: "I would like to think some of the younger people are enjoying my music too.

POP FYI:  film fans probably know Dame Vera’s classic WW2 ditty "We’ll Meet Again" from the atomic finale of Stanley Kubrick‘s Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
