Polly The Chicken Back Home After Being ‘Abducted’ By Owner’s Ex-Boyfriend
A pet chicken named Polly was safely returned to her owner after allegedly being abducted by the owner’s ex-boyfriend, authorities in Washington said.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office shared body-worn camera video this week showing deputies recovering Polly after she was briefly “abducted” from her Port Orchard home on Saturday morning.
A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend had kicked open her back door and shouted “I’ve got Polly” before running away with her chicken.
Video shows deputies locating 50-year-old Lemar Haselden hiding in the woods nearby along J.M. Dickinson Road. As deputies approach, Haselden pleads, “Don’t hurt my chicken.”
“I’m not gonna hurt your chicken,” a deputy says. Haselden continued clutching the chicken as deputies apprehended him. Deputies allowed Haselden to place the chicken in the back of a patrol vehicle before they transported him to jail.
Haselden, who reported was released from custody just hours before the incident, was booked on charges of residential burglary and violating an order of protection.
