This footage is the first video from the scene, although the shooting was also filmed by the bodycams of officers at the scene. The riots started over claims that Scott has been peacefully reading a book when approached by officers, who unnecessarily used violent force. Officers at the scene claimed that Scott was brandishing a firearm.
