“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Premiere — Must-See Pics!
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" had its big premiere in a Hollywood far away from worrying about anything else last night. The anticipation for this sure-to-be blockbuster brought out a different kind of crowd — with photographers and devoted fans clicking away at offbeat sights like the hot new robotic star BB-8!
Of course, everyone was excited to see the original cast reuniting as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia — and Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher didn't let anyone down. That tall gentleman in the back, of course, is Peter Mayhew standing at 7'2". The gentle giant uses a cane to get around nowadays, but rallied back to return to the big screen to put on the Wookie suit and play Han's furry pal Chewbacca!
Carrie also welcomed her daughter Billie Lourde on the red carpet. Billie's the third generation of showbiz stars in Carrie's family, although her grandmother Debbie Reynolds couldn't attend the premiere. Carrie's own character has been promoted to General Leia, and there's been a lot of secrecy over who Billie plays in the movie.
You don't have to star in "Star Wars" to geek out over the film franchise's latest relaunch, though. Joseph Gordon-Levitt proved that by attending as a serious "Star Wars" fan. He didn't go too crazy, though. Joseph just put on some green face paint, some fake ears, and a bathrobe to transform into Yoda.
Model and actress Jaime King also decided to get herself wrapped up in some sci-fi garb for the occasion!
Of course, it wouldn't be a "Star Wars" movie without the long-running robots C3-PO and R2-D2. The two stars managed to get their own moment on the red carpet — although fans had already seen them reunite for the "Star Wars" prequels in the 1990s.
Lupita Nyong'o joined director J.J. Abrams on the stage before the big premiere — with the Oscar winner showing lots of love and trying to bury rumors that Abrams had cut down her role significantly in post-production!
Not every star got to shine on the "Star Wars" carpet, though. Some anonymous actors had to simply march along as fans went wild for the intergalactic Stormtroopers!
Newly-married Sofia Vergara got a lot more attention when she hit the red carpet as a regular "Star Wars" fan busting out in 3D!
Lupita wasn't the only new "Star Wars" star on the scene, though. New bad guy Adam Driver and costar Oscar Issac showed off the long and the short of it on the red carpet!
And it wouldn't be a "Star Wars" premiere without some kind of autographs — as Harrison Ford joined his costars in signing a spaceship that just became one of the most valuable collectibles in Hollywood!
