Lenny, who was a star with the New York Mets from 1985 to 1989, writes of blowing off rehab to go to St. Barts — where he ran into the Oscar-winner. "One thing led to another," wrote Dysart, "and the next thing I knew we were in the bathroom of his suite and it was powder ... city" — adding: “This guy was a pro, dipping his finger in the coke and numbing his gums. I don’t even think he knew who the hell I was. I could tell he wasn’t a sports guy, but he sure liked hitting the slopes with me.”

“The next thing I knew," wrote Lenny, "De Niro took half my blow. We went back to the restaurant, and he sent over a thousand dollar bottle of wine. He did this three nights in a row.” The "Page Six" column at the New York Post went to De Niro's people for a comment, reporting: "We reached out to De Niro about the tale, he replied with a one-word comment through his rep: "Bulls - - t.'"

But The ENQUIRER had the inside story on De Niro's out-of-control drug habit during that wild decade, with past published reports that the star had partied to the verge of death right alongside the doomed John Belushi! The late comedian's drug dealer, Cathy Smith, told The ENQUIRER that Robin Williams and De Niro had both helped themselves to the funnyman's stash of cocaine in his hotel room — and were among the last people to see him alive!

"Robert De Niro and Robin Williams came bopping in," Cathy told The ENQUIRER, "laughing and shouting, 'Hi, guys — where's the blow?' John handed his friends a bag of cocaine. "They attacked John's bag — sticking straws in it and sucking the white powder into their noses, looking like Hoover vacuum cleaners." The drug dealer said the celebs partied until "John started feeling sick and asked me to kick them out, so I did." Belushi would be dead just a few hours later.

Lenny Dykstra's shocking new claims bring back bad memories for De Niro — but the athlete-turned-author must have seen that coming. He recounts in his book that the actor wasn't happy about reliving the past: “A couple years later, I ran into De Niro at his restaurant in Tribeca ... and went up to him. ‘Hey, remember me?’ I asked. He gave me a look like I was an ugly redheaded stepchild!"
