Durst eventually resurfaced in Galveston, Texas where he was hiding out disguised as a mute woman named Dorothy Ciner. Police linked him to the death of his neighbor Morris Black, 71, whose chopped-up remains were found floating in a bay in 2001. The fat cat admitted he killed Black, but insisted it was self-defense. A jury acquitted him of murder. But Durst, who was jailed on gun charges in Louisiana in March, was collared by the FBI and charged with Berman’s murder following his shocking confessions on an HBO documentary. As cameras rolled, he mumbled: “There it is. You’re caught. What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
