Despite this horrific footage that led to Springer’s early identification, officials said the madman eluded police detectives. Locals were reportedly reluctant to help in the search for Springer, who had 10 prior arrests on his record. He now also faces a murder rap, thanks to the cops who finally caught him after a two-week NYPD manhunt. Springer had been previously charged with assault, and was sent to a mental ward for observation.

She was on her way to meet fellow congregants at church, family members said, when the blow from an unhinged Springer sent her on an excruciating four-month death spiral. She endured multiple operations and attempts at rehab before succumbing to Springer's attack on Feb. 21, 2017.
