“They love each other, but they’ve just accepted they can’t be together 24/7,” tattled an insider. “Their relationship has been volatile at times, and they’ve considered calling it quits. But at their age they decided that
it makes sense to stick together as long as they have their own space.”

That’s why the couple chose to build a brand-spanking new house over an already existing mansion in ritzy Brentwood, Calif., according to sources. “They wanted to custom-design separate living quarters,” according to the snitch. “Goldie and Kurt designed the place with separate bedrooms, separate bathrooms and even a cozy living area for each of them. They do share a kitchen, dining room and formal living area.
“It’s planned so well that when they have guests over, hardly anyone notices they live in separate wings of the house!” But even with plenty of space between them, the two — parents of actor son
Wyatt, 31 — can’t avoid
getting on each other’s nerves, insiders said.

“Goldie and Kurt still manage to find things to bicker about,” dished a source. “Usually, it’s him getting impatient because she’s always coming over to his side of the mansion to clean and rearrange things.”

Privately, sources said, Goldie is still grieving for a lover who stole her heart, but died years ago. The actress was romantically involved with Swedish opera singer and actor Bruno Wintzell from 1973 to 1975, and “they maintained a unique relationship while she was with Kurt,” a source dished. Bruno died at age 58 in December 2002 after battling cancer.
“He never told Goldie that his condition was terminal, so she never got the chance to say goodbye,” a friend said. “They were so in love. She was devastated to learn Bruno had been waiting for a stem-cell transplant that he hoped would save his life — but time ran out.”
Now the actress has only memories of the
passionate romance that blossomed on the set of the 1974 rom-com “The Girl from Petrovka.” “Goldie is the most wonderful woman I’ve ever met … I love her,” dashing Bruno gushed at the time. After his death, Goldie said, “He was a gentle and kind soul. They were on track to get married. He had proposed … and she was ready to say yes, but days later changed her mind. He was shattered,” said a friend.

The hidden romance has caused Goldie
a lifetime of heartache, according to insiders. She can’t move on, and it constantly created tension with Kurt, who’s reportedly two-timed her!

“They’ve had huge rows over his affairs, and Kurt would always hit back by bringing up Bruno,” a source revealed. “It all boiled over in 2015 when Kurt lost his temper big time, and they secretly split for a while. Kurt walked out and was living in Malibu, while Goldie stayed in Pacific Palisades.
“Thankfully, they got back together and
decided to make it work, which is why they put the wheels in motion for their new dream home. They thought it would be the answer to all of their problems.

“They’re under the same roof, but they’re still struggling,” the source continued. “Friends are worried Kurt and Goldie will soon decide that the only way to go forward is to end things — even after all these years together.”
