Letterman Unleashed: ‘We Know Trump’s Crazy!’

David Letterman says that he's "lonely" and "rambling" — and proved it by blasting Donald Trump in a rare interview! The bearded retiree insists that he doesn't miss being a talk-show host, but couldn't hold back on attacking Trump while talking to New York magazine. The caustic comic added that he doesn't care about the other late-night comics going after the Prez, saying: "I don’t watch any of it. I don’t watch my old show." But Dave hasn't given up the political edge that some critics said helped sink "The Late Show" in the ratings!

Dave retired in 2015 at the bottom of the late-night ratings, with industry insiders saying that his political rantings had turned off heartland audiences. Now the former TV star is only more outspoken, declaring: "Trump’s the president, and he can lie about anything — from the time he wakes up to what he has for lunch, and he’s still the president. I don’t get that...We know he’s crazy. We gotta take care of ourselves here now."

Dave didn't hold back on Mike Pence, either — despite the Vice President being the former governor of Dave's home state of Indiana. "He only got elected because he looks like [basketball coach] Bobby Knight," said Dave. "Jeez, Pence scared the hell out of me!" Dave lashed out at Trump's cabinet, too, saying that chief strategist Steve Bannon is a "white supremacist," and calling Press Secretary Sean Spicer "a boob!"

The veteran entertainer, who made headlines with his own workplace sex scandal after a blackmail attempt in 2009, still took the time to be self-deprecating about his own retirement. "I’m lonely, I can’t stop talking," he told his interviewer — before adding: "This is like Visitors’Day at prison for me!" Dave also addressed his impressive facial hair, which he plans to maintain as he turns 70 years old in April 2017, saying: "Great things have happened to me since I’ve been walking around with this beard!"
