Deandre Chaney Jr., 23, has been charged for the brutal murder of little Dante in South Sacramento, Calif. Police say that Chaney beat Dante to death on Sept. 1 with a hammer for interrupting him while he was molesting the boy's 7-year-old sister. The child had just come home from his second day of third grade.

"Trying to save his sister from this child molester," mourned Dante's grandmother, Monique Brown, "and that's why he was beat the worst.” Dante was originally declared brain dead after the attack. He passed away six days later — and his heart was donated to a 4-year-old child.
