Explosive new evidence has blown the 15-year-old case wide open — as a judge tossed out the conviction of 34-year-old Central American immigrant
Ingmar Guandique. The disturbing court case fell apart over charges that witnesses had lied and prosecutors buried key evidence! Now, in an exclusive special report,
The National ENQUIRER can reveal that attorneys representing Guandique at his upcoming Oct. 11 trial are going after Condit's personal records!

The attorneys intend to obtain the former Congressman’s telephone, bank and credit card records from the time of his affair with Chandra to her disappearance on May 1, 2001. Condit was never charged or named as a suspect in the case, but was at the center of a firestorm over the 24-year-old brunette’s death.

Condit Election Day Protestors
Defense lawyers want District of Columbia prosecutors to hand over secret FBI files about Condit — including details of the politician’s alibi. Condit claims he was meeting two other politicians the day Chandra disappeared. Both were interviewed by lawmen, but their testimony has never been made public. Now Guandique’s legal team intends to depose Condit, and even wants to put him on the witness stand, insiders told The ENQUIRER!

Before the new trial, the lawyers will force police to officially name the other people who could’ve killed Chandra, sources said. Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview, Chandra’s mother told The ENQUIRER that she also
fears lawmen arrested the wrong man for her daughter’s death!

Susan Levy, 69, believes that Chandra’s corpse was dumped in D.C.’s Rock Creek Park — four miles from the intern's apartment — after she had been murdered somewhere else. Chandra’s badly decomposed remains were found deep in the wooded park on May 22, 2002 — over a year after she vanished! In the weeks after Chandra went missing, the park was repeatedly searched by volunteers, lawmen and dogs. All came up empty.

Family of Missing Intern Holds Press Conference
“I wonder if her body was really there before or placed there later because police originally could not find her body with bloodhounds,” says Susan. An autopsy found damage to Chandra's hyoid bone, suggesting possible strangulation. On June 6, after the police completed their search, private investigators hired by Susan and Robert levy found their daughter's shin bone with some twisted wire about 25 yards from the other remains.

Defense lawyers also charge that officials hid key evidence that could indicate the young woman was originally slain in her apartment. A devastating 911 call from Chandra’s neighbor, who reported hearing a “blood-curdling scream” the night the intern vanished, seems to support she was killed by someone she knew, the lawyers said.

“[The neighbor] told Mr. Guandique’s lawyers she called 911 at about 4:37 a.m. to report what she described as a scream from a woman in extreme distress,” reported a source close to the investigation. “She says it could have come from Chandra’s apartment.” The neighbor had also phoned 911 about a week earlier to report a woman’s screams in the wee hours.

Shockingly, prosecutors say the tapes of the woman’s 911 calls somehow got “lost.” Cops now claim the neighbor’s 911 call is irrelevant because they found evidence Chandra had used her computer later. But the lawyers say cops can’t know who used the computer — whether it was Chandra or her murderer.

And while investigators say that samples of Condit’s DNA didn't match genetic material taken from Chandra’s tights and T-shirt, the lawyers for Guandique are also claiming that the material doesn't match the DNA of their — currently serving a 60-year sentence for Chandra's murder. (Condit lost his Democratic primary
campaign for re-election in March 2002 to a former aide.)

Chandra Levy Murder Trial Begins In Washington
Guandique, who notoriously preyed on women in the park, was convicted of Chandra’s murder based on the testimony of a snitching cellmate. The new trial for the accused man was ordered after the cellmate's testimony
was exposed as a lie — and many believe the real killer remains at large!
