The hot Hollywood couple is splitting amongst charges that Brad was caught cheating on Angelina with his costar Marion Cotillard, just like Brad met Angelina on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" while married to Jennifer! But The National ENQUIRER had already revealed how Jennifer had secretly met with Brad to pushed Angelina's marriage to the breaking point!

The ENQUIRER had the scoop when Brad Pitt secretly consoled Jennifer in July 2016 after her mother passed away — which had Angie making her initial meetings with divorce lawyers! “Things have reached the breaking point between Brad and Angie, and he found there was no one he could talk to except Jen,” said a source close to Brad. “He’s felt very remorseful about what happened between them, and when her mother died, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to reach out to his ex and comfort her!"

Soon after the death of Jennifer's mom on May 25, Brad showered his ex-wife with flowers and messages, and then had a reunion with her in a Los Angeles hotel room. “Brad needed to see for himself that Jen was OK,” dished a snitch. “It was top-secret. He couldn’t go to her house. He knew all hell would break loose if they were seen together.” Meanwhile, Angie was in New York City, and was soon taking off for Brighton, England — working tirelessly on behalf of war refugees!

“Things between Brad and Angie have hit rock bottom,” said the insider this past summer, while revealing that Angie had been seeking legal advice from divorce attorneys. “It’s little wonder he’s run back to Jen for solace!”

Two days after his former mother-in-law, Nancy Dow, passed away, Brad — who’d been filming in Europe — hopped a private jet in Spain for a business meeting in L.A., and also set up the date with Jen. The former “Friends” star, 47, had been at odds with her mother after Nancy wrote the 1999 tell-all “From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir.” Jen had even banned her mother from the couple’s wedding in July 2000, although Brad had repeatedly encouraged Jen to forgive and forget. (Nancy wasn't invited to Jen's 2015 wedding to Justin Theroux.)

Jen eventually followed his advice, and reportedly visited her mother two weeks before she passed away at age 79. Although the couple’s marriage blew up when Brad fell for Angelina, the Hollywood hunk still has a soft spot for Jen, sources say. “Brad wants to make sure Jen’s able to emotionally close the door on what she went through with her mom,” said the source.
