OBAMA SITCOM: WHERE’s THE LAFF TRACK?!

A former speechwriter for President OBAMA has sold a sitcom about a dysfunctional first family – based on his ex-boss!

The show from ex-Oval Office staffer Jon Lovett is titled “1600 Penn,” and its fictional first couple bears a striking resemblance to Barack and Michelle Obama, TV insiders say.

“I’m sure that the Obamas are going to be watching out for the show’s pilot pretty closely,” said a Washington pal of Lovett, 29.

“The last thing they want is to come off looking like buffoons!”

But Hollywood sources saytheir worst fears may be realized since “1600 Penn” plays like the hot comedy “Modern Family” – an Obama family favorite – set on Capitol Hill.

“It features a put-upon president who can’t seem to catch a break,” a TV industry exec told The ENQUIRER.

“He’s earnest but hapless, while his wife is a Type-A personality who wants to be seen as an Everywoman but secretly adores fancy clothes and expensive vacations.

“It sounds like it’s ripped right out of the headlines.”

Lovett wrote most of the jokes for President Obama’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner remarks and was named the city’s Funniest Celebrity by Washington D.C.’s Improv comedy club last year.

He helped pen Obama’s speeches on financial reform before quitting the White House this summer and heading to Hollywood, where NBC bought his “1600 Penn” pilot.

As The ENQUIRER reported recently, the Obamas’ daughters – Sasha, 10, and Malia, 13 – are so crazy about “Modern Family” that they’ve begged their mom to let them guest-star.

“The irony is that President Obama probably never dreamed that he and the first lady would become the subjects of their own ‘Modern Family,’” laughed the insider. “Now, they will!”
