PAULA ABDUL, who often looks stunned or stoned these days, freaked when “American Idol” producers – egged on by SIMON COWELL – dropped this bombshell: They’re fed up with her unprofessional behavior…and this close to sliding SHARON OSBOURNE into her judge’s seat next season!

Insiders say Paula’s incoherent TV interviews, and those weird “Idol” appearances where she looks like she’s in a drug-induced stupor, have turned off fans and are hurting the show. Said a source: “They’re looking to give ‘Idol’ a face-lift, and they think Sharon – who’s rated highly with viewers on Simon’s other show, ‘America’s Got Talent’ – will bring a fresher look. And they’re sure Sharon will play well off Simon’s sharp tongue.” Nothing’s fi nalized, but producers are inches from cutting the deal with Sharon.
