Insiders say Paula’s incoherent TV interviews, and those weird “Idol” appearances where she looks like she’s in a drug-induced stupor, have turned off fans and are hurting the show. Said a source: “They’re looking to give ‘Idol’ a face-lift, and they think Sharon – who’s rated highly with viewers on Simon’s other show, ‘America’s Got Talent’ – will bring a fresher look. And they’re sure Sharon will play well off Simon’s sharp tongue.” Nothing’s fi nalized, but producers are inches from cutting the deal with Sharon. Paula – realizing too late that she’s not fireproof – is panicked! She’s made impassioned promises to clean up her act, but…stay tuned.
