Insiders whisper that TOM CRUISE’s reps just got a call from the California Attorney General’s office – which is investigating a claim that he performed a sonogram for a pregnant friend! After Cruise chortled to BARBARA WALTERS about taking at-home sonograms of baby SURI in KATIE HOLMES’ womb, the state Assembly passed what’s known as “the Tom Cruise law” – banning the sale of ultrasound gear to the public. Now, say sources, the AG’s office is checking a whistle-blower’s charge that Cruise sonogramed a pregnant pal – which could be “in violation of state or local laws,” according to the FDA. We phoned the AG’s office and were told: “We usually don’t make comments on an ongoing investigation.” Asked if they deny Cruise is under investigation, an official replied: “I’m not saying that”... and referred us to the state medical board.
