MERYL STREEP’s definitely no “Iron Lady” when it comes to sales resistance.
Out shopping in Hollywood, the two-time Oscar winner – who’s up for “Best Actress” again – shook her head and walked past a Mexican woman selling horseshoe-shaped good-luck amulets on the street…then smiled, walked back and said: “You know, it certainly can’t hurt – maybe it’s an omen.”
So even though she’s already won more Oscar and Golden Globes nominations than any actor ever, La Streep bowed to superstition, browsed the brightly-colored, papier-mache amulets with assorted holy pictures, and finally picked one of a female saint, saying: “I’ll take this one – she looks just like me.”
Revealing her competitive spirit as she paid up, the star told the vendor: “I hope it works!”
