“Selfie” snags star role for clever CUMBERBATCH!

IS THERE AN APP FOR THAT?

Don’t know if this is a first, but Brit actor BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH, star of “12 Years a Slave,” literally sent a cell phone “selfie” that landed him his starring role opposite MERYL STREEP and JULIA ROBERTS in the new flick, “August: Osage County.”

Cumberbatch, stuck by work in his native UK when the movie was being cast, just wasn’t able to hop the pond for a casting call in the USA – but he got a copy of the audition scenes, filmed himself reading them on his trusty iPhone, then submitted it electronically to the casting people, who flipped and handed him his starring role!
