At NBC’s New York unveiling of their fall line before a huge audience of network execs and advertisers, the emcee announced, “Here’s the reason we’re No. 1 in late night TV . . . ” and everyone expected Jay Leno to walk out! A gasp went up as a 3-foot-tall midget wearing a rubber “Jay” mask pedaled across the stage in a toddler-size kiddie car — then got out to shake hands with execs! Real Jay wasn’t able to make it, so NBC hired the mini-version.
