This week’s “Baywatch” Award goes to . . . (drumroll) . . . Tom Hanks, who was out jogging on the beach near his Malibu home when he heard panicked screams from a young man drowning in a rip current. The swimmer was tiring fast, fighting the tide as it carried him out to sea. Knowing that even powerful swimmers have died in the deadly surf, Tom shouted at the guy to relax, float until he felt the current weakening — then swim back diagonally to the shore. The “Cast Away” star charged into the Pacific, grabbed the exhausted swimmer and pulled him to shore. The gasping guy gasped even harder when he realized who’d just saved his life! Tom grinned, said he’d had enough exercise for one day — and trotted home! (Yay, Tom!)
