ANDERSON COOPER literally didn’t know what hit him – or dyed him – during their CNN New Year’s Eve telecast when feisty funnygal/pal KATHY GRIFFIN cooed he should close his eyes briefly … then sneakily dyed his white hair with red and blue stripes!
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” he gasped, viewing the patriotic – but idiotic – result!
“What have you DONE?”
As Kathy giggled, Coop played cool – “but he was really pissed,” said a source.
“He feels Kathy went too far! Anyone who knows Anderson knows you don’t eff with his hair. Now he’s having second thoughts about Kathy as co-host! She crossed the line; Coop felt he looked foolish on-screen.
"He wants to remain friends, but after eight New Year’s shows with Kathy, feels it may be time for someone new – so he’s talking to CNN execs about possible replacements!”
