Katie Couric held the annual fund-raiser for her Jay Monahan colon cancer foundation aboard the QM2 in Manhattan's harbor and was chatting with guests when she casually brushed her hair out of her face -- then SHRIEKED as one of the $100,000-plus earrings she'd borrowed from a jeweler bounced off the deck and . . . KER-PLOP! . . . disappeared into the deep, dark waters forever!
