BRAVE MICHAEL’s FIGHT FOR LIFE

description

Despite looking rejuvenated and putting on a brave face during a joyful family visit to Florida, MICHAEL DOUGLAS is losing his courageous battle with advanced throat cancer, sources say.

The 66-year-old Wall Street star smiled for the cameras while in public, but in private he used a wheelchair to get around while vacationing with his family at several theme parks.

And in a bombshell development, medical experts say recent photos suggest Douglas is wearing a catheter under his clothing to contend with a new issue in his cancer battle – incontinence.

"Michael is continuing to lose his battle. He’s fought his doctors, who have pleaded with him to have a feeding tube inserted to help him put on weight. But he’s refused," a family source disclosed.

Before being diagnosed with a walnut-sized tumor at the base of his tongue and undergoing eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, the Oscar-winning star weighed a healthy 175 pounds.

"But the stage 4 cancer and treatments left him gaunt and weak. He was down to 139 pounds just a few weeks ago," the source said.

"And ever since Michael vetoed a feeding tube, the sores in his mouth and throat have made it tough for him to swallow food and keep it down.

"He thinks he can get by on aloe-infused water, which he drinks constantly.

"While the water helps detoxify his body and improve digestion and circulation, it’s like putting a Band-aid on a major wound.

"And a new diet of raw fats, organic liver, creamy pasta and chicken soup that was thought to help him put on weight has not been successful."

In a bid to pump up his spirits, Douglas, his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 41, their son Dylan, 10, and daughter Carys, 7, spent the Thanksgiving holiday at Disney World in Florida where they checked out all four theme parks.

On Nov. 27 the family hit the nearby Universal Orlando Resort, where they visited The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and were photographed riding the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster.

While Douglas looked energized for the cameras, he felt sick much of the time and ordered room service in the family’s villa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, where he registered as "Andrew Shepherd," his character in The American President, according to a source.

"While Michael made every effort to enjoy the parks, it took a severe physical toll on him," a park insider told The ENQUIRER.

An eyewitness saw Michael using a wheelchair as he and his family approached Cinderella’s magic castle.

"Michael and Catherine knew this was indeed a special trip with the kids," a source said.

"He wanted to create happy moments for the kids."
