Reps confirms Working Girl star Melanie Griffith had surgery to remove cancerous growth.

It was early stages of skin cancer, her rep Robin Bauman confirmed.

The procedure was done early enough to prevent further complications.

The revelation clears up the mystery surrounding Melanie's black eye which was a result of the surgery.

Griffith is married to Zorro star Antonio Banderas and is slated to appear on Nip/Tuck next year.
