A Georgia man is facing charges for allegedly shoving two children off their bikes, sending one of them into a fountain, police said.
The Sandy Springs Police Department said officers responded on Feb. 28 to a report of an assault on two juvenile boys at 1 Galambos Way. The two boys told officers they were riding their bicycles when an adult man pushed them over.
The assault was captured on surveillance video, which shows the suspect walking along a large paved plaza path between a lit fountain and what appears to be an unlit fountain. The two boys ride into the frame, and the suspect claps at them before shoving them over, toppling them off of their bikes.
One boy landed in the lit fountain. The other boy appears to hit his head on the concrete ledge of the unlit fountain. Both boys appear to be wearing helmets, and police did not specify whether there were injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect as Stephen Catterton, and later located him at a concert in City Springs. Body-worn camera video shows officers entering the concert and arresting Catterton at the venue.
“Pushing kids off bicycles is not only unacceptable, it’s also a quick way to meet our officers,” police said. “If Mr. Catterton happens to be your neighbor, you may want to use caution.”
Police did not specify the exact charges Catterton faces.
