MARISKA HARGITAY SVU ADIEU

description

Ailing Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay,45,  is ready to quit the show after her latest medical setback, say sources.

Mariska – who has played detective Olivia Benson since 1999 – has made it known she wants out of the series to spend more time with her family, but her resolve to leave was strengthened when a collapsed lung condition left her hospitalized for a third time in early March.

"I just want to see my kid," Mariska recently said in a magazine interview in reference to why she wanted to hang up her TV badge. Her son August was born in June 2006. She also revealed that she and husband Peter Hermann, 41, were trying for a second child.

But as the ENQUIRER previously reported, plans to expand her family were put on hold after Mariska reportedly suffered two separate incidents of a partially collapsed lung in late December and early January.

Mariska returned to the set on Jan. 26, became sidelined again in early March after experiencing "discomfort relating to her earlier lung condition," according to her rep.

"Mariska was shooting outside in bone-chilling temperatures in New York City, and her collapsed lung condition … put her back in the hospital," the source divulged.

Although her publicist says Mariska is definitely coming back to the show next year, the source insists the latest incident was enough to persuade Mariska to leave SVU and tend to her health.
