Kidnap vic ex-sex slave JAYCEE DUGARD has finally found happiness.
These world exclusive ENQUIRER pictures show the remarkable recovery the kidnap survivor and her children have made since they were rescued from the clutches of a monster. Jaycee, 29, and her children – Angel, 15, and Starlit, 11, enjoyed a gleeful day of sightseeing on April 10.
The brave trio now feels comfortable enough to walk the streets openly and interact with the public.
"There was such an obvious, loving bond between mother and daughters," said an eyewitness who saw them strolling the historic section of Sacramento, Calif.
"They laughed together, held hands and touched each other affectionately. They looked like a regular family. No one who saw them would ever have guessed the nightmare they’ve been through."
Jaycee vanished in 1991 when she was 11, and her family feared she was dead.
Then – to a fanfare of worldwide headlines – she was found last August in a squalid backyard dungeon at the home of convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy. With her were Angel and Starlit – both fathered by Garrido during their mother’s 18-year imprisonment.
Since then, together with Jaycee’s mom Terry Probyn, they’ve been living at a secret California retreat adjusting to their new world.
The family outing began with a drive to Sacramento in the family SUV, driven by Terry. Jaycee appeared to have put on some healthy weight, and her hair is now dark blonde – not dark brown like it was in the fall.
"She’s so tiny – both of her daughters are taller than her now," said the witness. "But Jaycee still has the dazzling smile that shone out of the police poster when she was kidnapped as a little girl."
For three hours, the casually dressed family mingled with other tourists.
"They bought candy in an old-time store, toured an historic schoolhouse and ate sandwiches sitting at a table outside a Subway restaurant," said the witness.
"After lunch, they enjoyed candy apples – and they laughed as Starlit sneaked a bite out of Jaycee’s apple and ended up with a blob of toffee on her cheek.
"They took photos of each other and were obviously having so much fun being out in public. Jaycee looks so young, they could have been three sisters out together."
"Jaycee and the girls seemed content to enjoy window-shopping – and just being with each other," added the source.
