PUFF DADDY MUST WAIT A WEEK

description

Sean “Puffy” Combs is going to have to wait another week before his case goes to trial.

A new York judge decided to postpone the trial, in which will Puffy will face weapon and bribery charges stemming from nightclub shooting that occurred 13 months ago.

“This is a joint request by all sides,” explained Ben Brafman, Puffy’s lawyer. “Sometimes there are legal issues that can be resolved prior to trial that in the final analysis will shorten the trial.”

According to Brafman, the major reason behind the delay centers around his client’s celebrity status and the enormous amount of media attention the case has received.

Quick to dispel rumors of a possible plea, Brafman added, “There is no plea discussion going on. Mr. Combs has pleaded not guilty. He is innocent. We are going to trial.”

Puffy and two other men were arrested after a Dec. 27, 1999, shooting at a New York nightclub in which three people were injured. Combs and girlfriend Jennifer Lopez fled the scene, and when their Lincoln Navigator was pulled over, police found a gun inside. Combs allegedly tried to bribe his driver with $50,000 if he would tell police he owned the weapon.

Jury selection for the trial is now set to begin on Jan. 17.
