He starred with Bruce Willis in the 1999 supernatural flick The Sixth Sense, but no special powers could help 18-year-old Academy Award nominee Haley Joel Osment escape a judge’s hearing.
Osment found himself in trouble with the law July 20, when, after crashing his car, police found his blood-alcohol level to be twice the legal limit. The actor’s attorney met with a judge on his behalf to plead no contest to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of possession of marijuana.
The actor was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to attend six months of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and 60 hours of alcohol rehab, in addition to paying a $1,500 fine.
Osment is set to star as a high school journalist in the upcoming film Home of the Giants.
