GEORGE HARRISON’S WORLD VIEW TURNS DARK

description

Ex-Beatle George Harrison seems disenchanted with the world these days, and rightfully so — just last year he was stabbed, and a few years before that he suffered a bout with throat cancer.

“The world is just going mental as far as I’m concerned,” he says.” “It’s speeding up with the whole technology and everything that’s happening.”

According to reports, the musician joked about titling his upcoming album, Our Planet is Doomed: Volume One. It’s just a tad darker than his last record, the cheery 1987 release Cloud Nine.

He’s not entirely down in the dumps though. In January, just in time for its 30th anniversary, he’ll re-release All Things Must Pass — complete with a re-recorded version of his peace anthem “My Sweet Lord.”

“I just like the idea and the opportunity to freshen it up, because the point of “My Sweet Lord” is just to try and remind myself basically that there’s more to life than the material world,” he explained.

“Basically I think the planet is doomed,” he said half-jokingly. “And it’s my attempt to try to put a bit of a spin on the spiritual side, a reminder for myself and for anybody who’s interested.”

The re-release of All Things Must Pass hits stores January 23.
