American Idol winner Carrie Underwood proved her star power on Monday at the 40th Annual Country Music Association Awards. Underwood took home the award for female vocalist and the Horizon Award. Keith Urban was also a winner — for male vocalist of the year — although he could not attend the awards because he is currently in rehab. Urban received a standing ovation and sent a note to be read by Ronnie Dunn in which he thanked his wife, Nicole Kidman. “To my wife, Nicole, I love you.” Renee Zellweger‘s ex Kenny Chesney won the award for entertainer of the year. He said, “This year has in ways been the most emotionally satisfying year and also the most emotionally draining year of my life. There have been so many ups and downs, it’s been like a huge emotional roller coaster ride.” Other winners include Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Rascal Flatts and Brooks & Dunn.
