Contrary to reports, Jim Carrey insists that he holds no hard feelings toward the Academy of Motion Pictures.
The rubberfaced comedian has been overlooked by the Academy twice now, despite his Golden Globe wins for his roles in The Truman Show and Man on the Moon. The latest word is that when Carrey wasn’t asked to emcee this year’s awards show he became absolutely furious!
According to both representatives for Carrey and the Academy, it’s just not true. In fact, sources say the wacky actor was asked to host the show a few years back.
“This is not a matter of the Academy vs. Carrey,” a spokesperson for the Academy told MSNBC. “Jim has been approached to host the show in the past but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. There is no ill will. There is no feud.”
Regardless of the real situation, Carrey probably couldn’t care less. His latest blockbuster, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, became one of the highest grossing films of the year and he’s laughing all the way to the bank.
