The sheriff is coming back to town. Andy Griffith is returning to his hometown of Mount Airy, North Carolina to unveil a TV Land statue commemorating his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor in the classic series, “The Andy Griffith Show,” which used Mount Airy as a model for the show’s town of Mayberry. Mount Airy hosts an annual “Mayberry Days” festival to honor the series as well.
