American Idol‘s Clay Aiken says the prescription antidepressant Paxil to treat anxiety attacks. In an interview for Good Morning America, Aiken told Diane Sawyer he sought medical help when the attacks began after his stepfather passed away in 2003 and he became a celebrity on Idol. “I said, ‘Listen, here’s the thing. I don’t understand why I feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack when I go into these rooms,'” Aiken says he told his doctor. “When I am in the room, the walls are closing in on me and my heart races, and I didn’t understand it.” Clay said he has tried other drugs, but Paxil worked the best.
