Pals of newly single GEORGE CLOONEY are pushing the longtime bachelor to romance his friend SANDRA BULLOCK.
The hunk, 50, recently split with Italian beauty Elisabetta Canalis, and sources say his platonic bond with Sandra, 46, could change into something more serious since they began filming the sci-fi thriller “Gravity.”
Clooney and Bullock have flirted with romance for years, and friends think they should take the plunge together.
“Before, when one of them was single, the other was in a relationship,” said an insider.
“But now they’re both available and all their friends are rooting for a relationship to work out.
“Plus George has slipped effortlessly into a kind of role model as a stand-in dad to Sandy’s adopted son Louis.”
The former “ER” hunk called off his two-year romance with model/ actress Canalis in June, reportedly after a nasty fight at his villa in Lake Como, Italy.
“George’s friends say he’s been chasing women all over the world and maybe he never realized that his dream girl might be right under his nose,” said another source.
“What George likes about Sandy is that she’s like a smoking-hot girl version of him with a fun personality,” added an insider.
“After a grueling year, Sandy is glowing. George makes her laugh and her heart melts over how well he’s bonded with Louis. They seemed primed for a passionate love affair.”
