Eric O'Hara, the 24-year-old step brother of The Hills star Heidi Montag, has died.  O'Hara, a soldier who fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan, didn't lose his life in the line of battle. He accidentally fell off an icy roof Thursday at the Steamboat Springs Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel in Colorado where he was helping remove snow. The news was reported by the Rocky Mountain News and TMZ. Heidi was related to Eric because her father, Bill, married Eric's mother Terri.

"Losing my brother, at an early age, is such a tragedy," Montag said in a statement released through her rep. "I just loved him more than anything. He was just so patriotic. He really wanted to go to Iraq and help and do all that he could for his country. He felt like it was his duty. I'll really miss him."
