Insiders say the “X Factor” judge had no idea about Jeff ’s sordid past when she met him 11 months ago while working on her now-defunct CBS talent series, “Live To Dance.”
The truth finally came out when the 32-year-old record company owner told Paula, 49, that his mother – Maryland educator Libby Cataldi – had written a no-holds-barred tell-all about his addictions, said a friend.
“He was very above-board about it and she’s convinced he’s turned over a new leaf,” the friend divulged.
“But what if he relapses? What if he goes back to his old ways? She’ll be the one to suffer for it.”
"Paula's crazy about Jeff," added the source. "But because of his drug-addicted past, she's playing with fire.
