In a setup straight out of a Hollywood movie, a cunning crook mixed “The Mask” with “Mission: Impossible” – and disguised himself as a black man to pull off a daring string of robberies.
Surveillance video caught a pock-marked African-American with no facial hair sticking up four banks and a drugstore during a 3 1/2-hour crime spree in Cincinnati, Ohio, recently.
Cops scrambled to find the “black” robber who wore sunglasses and a hoodie, and indicated he was carrying a gun.
But police say the culprit was actually a 30- year-old white man named Conrad Zdzierak who disguised himself with a “Hollywood quality” $700 mask and gloves to fool them.
None of the employees at the banks or drugstore realized the holdup man was wearing a mask. And the robber’s face looks natural in the surveillance videos, as well.
The mask was so elaborate and lifelike that it covered Zdzierak’s neck and showed hair on a black chest.
Police believe Zdzierak took off the mask as soon as he carried out one robbery, driving to his next target as a white man. Just before pulling off another heist, he would put on his disguise again to pose as a black man.
