CASE OF THE BANK ROBBING SOCCER MOM

description

Roxanne Pennock is a busy mother of five, but she always made time for her secret hobby – robbing banks!

The popular soccer mom has confessed to knocking off two banks and is suspected of two more heists in her hometown.

Incredibly, one of her alleged stick-ups was near the elementary school attended by her youngest child – and forced the school into a lockdown for two hours while deputies feverishly searched for the bank bandit.

The suspect was last seen running behind a shopping center – in the direction of Roxanne’s nearby home.

"I was shocked," said next-door neighbor Kevin Patterson. "She’s a nice lady, a typical soccer mom – minivan and all. Our kids went over to their house to play.

"They always made a big deal out of Halloween and Christmas, decorating their property so neighbors and the kids could enjoy it. We just never saw anything like this coming."

The 37-year-old mom, whose kids range in age from 8 to 18, was busted Nov. 6 on suspicion of bank robbery when cops stopped her red minivan shortly after a Chase bank in Temecula, Calif., was held up.

Officials say they found evidence in her van connecting her to the crime.

Roxanne also pleaded guilty to the Oct. 22 robbery of a Bank of America, also in Temecula, according to Riverside County (Calif.) district attorney spokesman John Hall.

After Roxanne’s arrest, sheriff’s deputies searched her home in nearby Poway, where she lives with her husband, four sons and a daughter. They found evidence linking her to the two robberies plus to two more in Poway, according to Poway Sheriff’s Sgt. Baven Coff.

She is suspected of using a semiautomatic handgun in the Sept. 30 robbery of a San Diego National Bank.

FBI officials say the suspect in that case pointed the weapon at a bank teller, yelled at her to get down and used a blue-and-black duffel bag to carry the cash.
