Stephen Colbert is insuring his immortality for future generations - by launching his digitized DNA into space.

Video game designer Richard Garriott is visiting the International Space Station next month and he's bringing Colbert's DNA with him to build a time capsule dubbed The Immortality Drive.

"I am thrilled to have my DNA shot into space, as this brings me one step closer to my lifelong dream of being the baby at the end of 2001,"  Colbert enthused, referring to the Stanley Kubrick classic.

The Peabody Award winning Colbert Report host will be preserved in the hope that ETs might clone him.

"In the unlikely event that Earth and humanity are destroyed, mankind can be resurrected with Stephen Colbert's DNA," Garriott explained.

"Is there a better person for us to turn to for this high-level responsibility?"
