ZOMBIE KING HINZMAN DIES, HAD VOWED “RETURN”

The most famous zombie star in the world, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD graveyard ghoul BILL HINZMAN has died at 75.

Hinzman who rocketed to cult fame in George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” was tapped from assistant cameraman to play the fast-moving zombie who attacked Johnny and Barbara in the seminal scare flick’s opening moments.

Hinzman died after losing a long battle with cancer at 75.

Hinzman, who also directed several horror flicks, was often referred to as "No. 1 Zombie".’

A fan favorite at horror conventions one of his more recent appearances was in the "zombies in a women’s prison" fear fest “Shadow: Dead Riot” which teamed him with another famous zombie, the late Captain Haggerty, who starred in Lucio Fulchi's "Zombi".

Bill’s daughter Heidi Hinzman revealed her dad will be cremated, adding, "He always joked with me that if he got buried he would come back.”
