BRAD PITT is still living the high life despite his claim that he’s quit smoking pot!

A source tells The ENQUIRER that in a shocking drug cover-up, the screen superstar is getting stoned more often than ever to cope with the stress of partner Angelina Jolie’s health woes.

“Brad is smoking up a storm these days,” said a family insider.

“He’s under enormous strain being a rock of support for Angelina, caring for their six kids and juggling his work duties.”

But in a twist, Brad insisted in a recent magazine interview that he’s denounced his party-hearty ways.

“For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage,” Brad said. “I was a bit of a drifter…I spent years f***ing off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity.

“It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. It was an epiphany – a decision not to squander my opportunities.”

Pitt was apparently referring to his days while married to former “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston. But as The ENQUIRER has reported, he’s previously clashed with Angelina over his marijuana habit. In 2011, we reported that she went berserk when she discovered that Brad was using an old Airstream trailer parked on the grounds of their Los Angeles estate as a secret drug den.

At one point, the 38-year-old “Salt” beauty – who recently announced she underwent a preventive double mastectomy after a genetic test revealed she was at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer – ordered Brad to kick his dope habit or check into rehab.

“Brad gave up pot smoking for a while because Angie hated it,” said the source. “But he went back to it as a crutch to clear his mind and ease his anxiety while Angie was going through procedures related to her surgery. He’s ultra-careful now about how and when he fires up. Brad never smokes in the house and usually only at night after the kids are asleep.

“He feels awful that he’s letting Angie down, but smoking pot is his coping mechanism right now.”

But sources say the blatant whitewash of his drug use isn’t the only dilemma facing Brad, whose

zombie thriller “World War Z” opens June 21.

The 49-year-old actor has admitted that he may suffer from prosopagnosia, a condition that makes it difficult for him to remember faces.

“Seeing how short-term memory loss has been associated with smoking too much grass, the thought must have crossed Brad’s mind that his problem recognizing faces could be due to his pot habit,” said the source.

“Brad also knows that any form of smoking increases the odds of developing cancer, and he says now that Angie’s on the mend, he’s going to quit again.

“After seeing Angie struggle with her cancer battle, he realizes that he needs to kick the pot habit for good.”
