Will Smith set a box office record with his new film, I Am Legend. The sci-fi thriller grossed $76.5 million over the weekend, the biggest December opening ever. The box office hit is also a personal best for Smith.
Alvin and the Chipmunks also had a strong opening, earning $45 million. The Golden Compass, Enchanted and No Country for Old Men rounded out the Top 5.
