A “Deeper Throat” might have blown the whistle on White House contender GARY HART’s affair with DONNA RICE as The NATIONAL ENQUIRER published our famed cover. Now, the mysterious source has been REVEALED.

The New York Times reported that clothing designer Dana Weemus is taking credit for leaking info to the Miami Herald that the 1988 Democratic frontrunner Gary Hart was having an extramarital affair with leggy sexpot Donna Rice.

After the first story appeared in the Herald with all the solemnity of the Woodward-Bernstein Watergate expose, the disgraced Hart dropped out of the race.

The ENQUIRER promptly publishing the now famous cover photo showing the leggy brunette perched on Hart’s wearing a “Monkey Business” yacht tee and burned the image into the national consciousness as a cultural landmark.

But now Weemus is taking credit for leaking the story nearly 30 years later.

According to Weemus, Rice had aspirations to be the next Marilyn Monroe sleeping with a Kennedy-esque Hart in the White House and it sickened her.

When asked if she did indeed leak the story, Weemuss admitted, "That was me."
