Put a stake in it!  Showmance between VAMPIRE DIARIES co-stars NINA DOBREV & IAN SOMERHALDER over -- report!

 "The Vampire Diaries" costars, who play doppleganger heroine Elena Gilbert and bad boy bloodsucker Damon Salvatore on the CW hit series, have reportedly called it quits after more than three years of dating despite their ten year difference in age.

The report comes after their fictional counterparts did the horizontal mambo.

Nina said in an interview, "I didn't want to be dating one of my costars.

 "But sometimes you can't help who you have a connection with, and you can only fight it for so long -- which I did for a really, really long time."

Ian, 34, & Nina, 24, who first took their romance public in 2011, are said to be "consummate professionals."

Nina, 24, made headline recently when she and bikini bestie Julianne Hough, who just broke up with her BF Ryan Seacrest, were pap snapped braiding  each other’s hair.
