Best selling author J.K. Rowling cast a legal spell to foil an unauthorized Harry Potter encyclopedia written by a fan.
Rowkling testified in Manhattan Federal Court that Steven Vander Ark’s Harry Potter Lexicon, a compendium of all things Quidditch, is nothing more than an alphabetized rip off of her franchise.
The fan turned ‘pro’ also botched key translations of magic spells from Latin.
“Any seven year-old with a pocket dictionary could do that,” the author said.
Rowling plans to publish her own encyclopedia in the future — but with all proceeds going to charity.
